This has to be one of the coolest and most unexpected things that has happened to me as a writer: Australian guitarist Graham Greene has written an amazing new tune – and it was inspired by my short story ‘The Gates of Balawat’ from my short story collection ‘Odin’s Eye’! You can read more about it on Graham’s Facebook page.

I’ve been a fan of Graham’s work for years, and his instrumental rock and metal albums are often my go-to music while I’m writing. Releases like Gaia Rising, Down Devils Road, and last year’s jaw-droppingly good The Guitar Vinci Code are all superb, and I’m just floored that he’s written this track.

The single ‘The Gates of Balawat’ is available (or will soon be available) from CD Baby, iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Spotify, Tidal, and Groove. Get all the details on Graham Greene’s official website.

I’ve listened to it on repeat, and I’m just in love with this tune: it’s so majestic and soaring. (Of course, I might be biased…)

If you want to pick up a copy of my science fiction short story collection ‘Odin’s Eye’ and read the short story that inspired this tune, it’s available from AmazonApple iBooksSmashwordsBarnes & Noble, or Kobo.

I also have another upcoming collaboration of sorts with Graham Greene. Kaleidotrope recently picked up my short story ‘The Guitar Hero’ (it will appear in 2018), and Graham gave me an assist with some guitar-solo related dialogue on that piece. Can’t wait to share that story with everyone: it’s a rock’n’roll-infused story featuring an all-female, self-described “two-bit Scooby Doo gang”.

Over the years, I’ve done a few interviews with Graham. He’s a very entertaining interviewee, and you can read my interview from 2015 here.
